Mayfly Theatre was created by Sarah Ord,- a performer, theatre maker, writer and creative producer based in Aberdeen. Two years ago, during maternity leave, she founded May Fly Theatre - a company rooted in connection, community, collaboration, and play. She wanted to create space to stay creatively active while building a community of artists and audiences in the North East of Scotland.

Mayfly Theatre has a strong focus on high-quality theatre that pushes boundaries, both thematically and artistically. They believe in creating bold, imaginative work that speaks to audiences with honesty, complexity, and joy.

Mayfly are passionate about connecting with communities, and engaging and empowering people through the arts. They believe that play and creativity is for everyone - it strengthens connections, encourages curiosity and opens our minds to new possibilities. The Mayfly team all share a commitment to working with those from marginalized communities—giving a creative voice to people on the edges of society.
